  10.     Hello Pro Audio Spectrum Owner!

  12.         You have downloaded a beta release of the Virtual
  13.     Sound Blaster! This is a piece of software that allows
  14.     you to run certain sound blaster specific games. By using
  15.     this software, you are volunteering to help test, and
  16.     debug this program. There are no guarantees to it's
  17.     performance, so some software packages may make the
  18.     system crash. Any crash is inconvenient, some even
  19.     damaging to your system data. By running this software,
  20.     you are taking full responsibility for it's results.
  21.     Due to the nature of this software, it is recommeded that
  22.         you load the TSR before running the game, then perform a
  23.         hardware reset after exiting the game.
  24.  
  25.         It would be appreciated if you would report any
  26.     problems back on the Media Vision BBS, via messages,
  27.     since this is a new, unsupported piece of software. The
  28.     guys in Tehc Support cannot help you, they probably
  29.     know as much as you do regarding this program. I will
  30.     personally assist you, if you find a problem. I just
  31.     ask that you leave messages. Many people may report the
  32.     same problem, so I will probably address just one of
  33.     you to work through the problem. This will help reduce
  34.     redundant effort, and speed up the debugging process.
  35.  
  36.         Also, it would be appreciated if you report any
  37.     successes that you find when running other sound blaster
  38.     software. I have found over 50 % of the software works
  39.     with this TSR. If you find some, let me know too!
  40.  
  41.             The TSR software will only load if there are no
  42.     other 386 specific software programs already running.
  43.     Also, you need to have MVSOUND.SYS loaded (via the
  44.     CONFIG.SYS file). If for any reason, the TSR determines
  45.     it cannot load, an error message will be printed, and
  46.     the program terminated without becoming resident. Once
  47.     this program loads, no other 386 specific software will
  48.     be able to run, such as Windows 3.x. If some software
  49.     blatantly attempts to execute protected mode instructions,
  50.     (such as SYMDEB.EXE, version 3.0), a UAE will occur,
  51.     and the system will have to be hard reset.
  52.  
  53.         The Pro Audio Spectrum, itself, must be configured
  54.     for DMA channel 1, and IRQ #3, #5, or #7. Please make
  55.     sure this is consistent with the settings for
  56.     MVSOUND.SYS. The virtual SB uses the I/O address range of
  57.     0x226 through 0x22E. These are currently fixed, but may
  58.     change later on, in later versions of the program.

  60.         So far, ALL FM games work. The MIDI interface is
  61.     not yet implemented. The digital audio specfic software
  62.     that works is:

  86.     To run the program, unpack the ".EXE" program and run it:

  96.         The logo screen, and disclaimer will print, prompt
  97.         you for a response, then, if everythings okay,
  98.         terminate and stay resident. The program takes
  99.         almost 15k of memory.
